It’s a busy fall weekend around St. Cloud, with home hockey for two teams, a tribute show that’s nearly sold out downtown, and plenty for families. These are our picks for St. Cloud, Sartell, St. Joseph, Sauk Rapids, St. Augusta and Little Falls. We re-checked every date, time and address against the venue or organizer on Thursday evening, but plans change, so tap through to the organizer before you head out.
Friday, Oct. 9
October Art Crawl, downtown St. Cloud (4 to 8 p.m.). Downtown St. Cloud’s art walk fills shops, galleries and eateries around St. Germain Street with work by central Minnesota artists, and it’s free to wander. WJON reports a new downtown mural debuts at this crawl. Details and the interactive map are on the Downtown St. Cloud Art Crawl page.
Kat Blue at Iron Street Distillery (6 p.m.). Live music at 539 E. St. Germain St. in St. Cloud, an easy walk from the crawl. See the distillery’s event calendar.
Huskies and Norsemen hockey (both 7 p.m.). St. Cloud State’s men host Michigan Tech in their first home series at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (schedule). Across town, the NAHL’s St. Cloud Norsemen host the Aberdeen Wings at the Municipal Athletic Complex (MAC), 5001 Veterans Drive. It’s the Norsemen’s Hockey Fights Cancer Weekend, and Friday is a pink-out night, per the team’s website.
Mallrats Presents: MTV Unplugged at Pioneer Place on Fifth (7:30 p.m.). A ’90s acoustic tribute at 22 Fifth Ave. S. The band lists the show on its website, and the theater told WJON on Oct. 6 that only about 10 seats were left, so call the box office (320-227-2221) before you go.
Saturday, Oct. 10

Saint Benedict’s Monastery hosts this fundraiser for the St. Joseph Community Food Shelf in the parking lot across from The House Food and Tap. You pick a bowl made by local potters and artists, share soup and bread, and give what you can, since there are no set prices (monastery event page).
Oktoberfest at the St. Cloud Eagles (doors at 5 p.m.). It’s 21 and older, at the Eagles Club, 730 41st Ave. N. Local band Pandemic plays 6 to 10 p.m., and there are food trucks. Tickets are limited, St. Cloud LIVE reports.
More hockey. The Huskies and Michigan Tech meet again at 6 p.m., and the Norsemen and Aberdeen face off again at 7 p.m. (Norsemen tickets).
Heartland Symphony Orchestra, Little Falls (7:30 p.m.). In its 50th anniversary season, the orchestra opens its fall series, “Where We Were,” in the Charles D. Martin Auditorium at Little Falls High School, 1001 Fifth Ave. SE. Two former music directors return to conduct, and donations are accepted at the door. A conductor chat starts 45 minutes before the concert (event listing).
