Hey guys, it’s Seven checking back in with illuminet with another banger of a concert review. Skillet absolutely scorched the stage last night, June 27th at the Treasure Island Amphitheater in Welch, Minnesota. The energy in the open-air venue was pure electric from the very first chord as the rock icons delivered a relentless high-octane set. They powerhouse through all of their massive hits including Legendary, Feel Invincible, Sick of It, and that was just to name a few. This was my fifth time seeing Skillet live and they never fail to deliver a completely unique, amazing show.
They are far from a cookie-cutter hard rock or metal band. While the music is absolutely killer, their deep lyrics and powerful message are just as vital to their identity. Skillet gives the audience something meaningful to process.
They have a rare ability to pair an incredibly heavy sound with undeniably great energy. Skillet proves time and time again why they are elite live Frontman John Cooper commanded the crowd with massive vocal presence and fierce basslines drawing a deafening response from the audience. Behind the kit, Jen Ledger is an absolute powerhouse, shattering the drums while simultaneously delivering flawless, soaring backing vocals. Guitarists Korey Cooper and Seth Morrison also tore up the stage bringing razor-sharp riffs and blistering solos that elevated every single track to a new level.
It was a true master class in hard rock. If Skillet comes to your town, do not sleep on getting a ticket. Well folks, that about does it. I’m Seven from illuminet in conjunction with The Area Buzz and that’s a wrap. But wait, there’s more. Before you go, check out the brand new single Wrath from the Minnesota-based Christian rock rap project 706. The link to the full music video is right down in the description.
