John Munson has been helping families realize the American Dream of Home Ownership for over 25 years. As an independent mortgage broker with Keystone Home Finance, LLC John has the ability to intelligently obtain the best financing for first time home buyers as well as move up buyers. John has built a solid business by always doing what is in the best interest of his clients. As a result, he gets many repeat clients and referrals.

John believes in giving back as well. He’s been involved and chaired The St. Mary’s Cathedral Block Party for many years as well as coached his kids’ sports teams and served on school boards.

DD: Thanks for taking the time to speak to me today John. As mentioned above, you were the chairman of the 2021 St. Mary’s Cathedral Block Party. How did you get involved with that project, and please let us know more of what that event is?

JM: The event is the Cathedral’s largest fundraiser for the year. More importantly, it is a fun community building event. Parishioners get to know those that they worship with each week. Sometimes we go to church and just file out afterwards. Through this event new friendships are made while working on a fun and entertaining event.

DD: Give us a brief history of your professional career and what led you to pursue the finance and home mortgage industry.

JM: I majored in Finance in college. Previously to working in the mortgage business I worked at the St Cloud Times. I started this career in 1996 and have loved it ever since. It gives me great satisfaction to help families get out of renting and into their own home. Many of my past customers have now become good friends.

DD: Can you tell us more about your profession, and what services you specialize in?

JM: As an independent mortgage broker I work with several bank and lending institutions. This gives me the opportunity to offer competitive interest rates and many loan programs. These include Conventional, FHA , USDA ,VA and non-conforming loans for self employed individuals

DD: Could you give some advice for people who are thinking of purchasing a home today, and how to prepare, and or navigate through the current financial climate?

JM: That’s easy, get pre-approved first. Looking at houses is the fun part, but it’s important to know if you credit qualify and how much home you can afford. There is nothing more deflating than finding the perfect home only to discover later that you don’t qualify. Now-a-days most buyers and realtors won’t even look at an offer unless the buyer is pre-approved. I am well known in this area and realtors know if you have a pre-approval letter from me it is solid.

DD: What are your predictions for the 2022 real estate market?

JM: Real Estate Home Sales are going to be strong. It’s a great time to buy!

DD: Do you have some good advice for new home buyers, and how to proceed in the market?

JM: Again, talk to a lender first. If an induvial is not quite ready to be pre-approved I give them a plan of action, so that they can be successful in the future.

DD: What are the areas that you service?

JM: I can do loans anywhere in Minnesota, but the bulk of my clients are here in Central Minnesota

DD: What do you feel are some of your strong points that may separate you from other lenders?

JM: Experience, having more options and a solid reputation. I look further than this one transaction. I want a customer for life so I always do what is in their best interest.

DD: What are some things you enjoy doing with your free time?

JM: I have 4 grown children and 3 grandsons, my life is very involved with them. I recently bought a cabin and plan to have some great times up there this summer.

DD: If someone wants to contact you, what are the best ways to reach you?

JM: My cell number is the best 320-260-1390. My email is john@keystonehf.com
